Zanu-PF have formally dismissed Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe as leader of the party. He has been replaced by the party’s vice president, Emmerson Mnangagwa, nicknamed the ‘Crocodile’, who had previously been dismissed.

This latest development puts Mnangagwa firmly in line to replace Mugabe and president, but Mugabe is still refusing to relinquish his post.

Mugabe has staged a hunger strike, saying that he is ready to die for ‘what is correct’.

Despite being removed as leader of Zanu-PF, his status as Zimbabwean President remains, however there is speculation that he will officially resign late on Sunday.

Mugabe’s wife Grace, nicknamed ‘Gucci Grace’ for her penchant to engage in expensive shopping sprees, was also dismissed from her post as head of Zanu PF’s Women’s League.
