Krishna looking at second spot

On Saturday the Cricket Summer league continued with Krishna C.C playing Overseas C.C.

The Overseas team won the toss and batted first. Mike Caruana and Vinod Ramakrishna opened the innings and put on a healthy partnership of seventy two runs before Caruana retired after forty balls faced (local rule), he made as many runs which included four boundaries along the way.

Ramakrishna was soon out making thirty nine runs which included four fours and a six. This was the best start Overseas have had in the competition and went on to make 160 runs total. Vince Stivala made eighteen runs, Dan Hurley fifteen runs, Dean Arnold twelve runs, Chris Hamilton nine runs and Ian Pendelbury seven runs, plus there were twenty extras. For Krishna Puneet Gupta was the most successful bowler with three wickets and John Prior took one. In the fielding  Justin Brooke managed to take two catches for Krishna. The Overseas were happy with this score,  was to be enough to bring the first victory.

Unfortunately for the Overseas Bikram Arora came out blazing his bat and scored forty eight runs from thirty one which included four sixes and three fours. Once he was caught by Stivalla and three quick wickets fell the Overseas again regained some hope. Dave Mansfield dug in and made twelve runs and Joy Ghoseroy made nineteen runs. 

Krishn now needed forty four runs from six overs with Nowell Khosla and George Agius batting. The pair guided their team to victory with Khosla ending with forty runs from twenty three balls which included two fours and two sixes, while Agius made nineteen of twelve balls which included two fours and a six. For the Overseas three bowlers, Roger Bradley, Chris Hamilton and Dean Arnold all took two wickets. Stivala also eneded with two catches for the match.

Overseas from this their last game earned two points and have ended bottom of the ladder with six points. Krishna earned thirteen points and sit third with forty five points and they play Melita C.C next Saturday for second place who are eleven points ahead of them.

On Sunday the second women's game between Marsa C.C and Overseas C.C will take place.
