Qormi made a flying start to the match as they went ahead after just six minutes. Lawrence Chiedozie went on a good run down the left flank before passing the ball towards Darko Medic whose low finish went behind Yenz Cini.

On the 18th minute, Qormi went close again. Chiedozie received the ball inside the penalty area and sent a shot that ended up slightly high.

The first division side threatened once more on the 31st minute. Michael Camilleri hit a shot from a free kick that took a deflection off a defender before going marginally wide for a corner.

Mosta tried to hit back on the 35th minute. Njongo Priso went inside the penalty area and passed the ball towards Jonas Ekani Rodriguez. The latter fired a strong shot that went well over.

Johan Scicluna’s side nearly equalised on the 42nd minute. Ekani found Pedro Dos Santos Calcado and the Mosta forward attempted a lob that was cleared off the line.

Qormi hit back on the counter attack a minute later. Noah Ajuola received a through ball and went past the goalkeeper, but saw his shot hitting the side netting.

Mosta started the second half on the attack and had a great opportunity on the 48th minute. Njongo Priso delivered the ball towards Calcado whose finish ended up centimetres high.

However, Mosta managed to score on the 56th minute. David Fenech sent Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza through on the left side of the penalty area and the Maltese striker finished past Jamie Azzopardi.

A minute later, Mosta went ahead for the first time in the match. Calcado fired a low shot from inside the penalty area that gave Azzopardi no chance.

The Premier League team kept on showing their supremacy on the 65th minute. Priso passed the ball towards Triganza whose shot went off target.

Mosta had a golden chance to seal the issue on the 77th minute. Priso won possession inside Qormi’s half, ran towards the penalty area, and sent the ball towards the unmarked Triganza who finished high from an ideal position.

A minute later, Kurt Magro of Mosta saw his effort going slightly off target.

Mosta made sure of the win on the 80th minute. Calcado exchanged possession with Priso and the latter finished past Azzopardi to the joy of Mosta’s few supporters present at the National Stadium.

Qormi nearly reduced the margin of the score two minutes later. From a free kick, Ojuola hit a shot that nearly surprised Cini who tipped the ball for a corner in two attempts.

Following this result, Prebroke Athleta are the only team relegated to the first division. On the other hand, Lija, Senglea and Naxxar will play in the Premier League. Qormi will remain in the first division.
