In a tight match, Germany and Chile cancelled each other out in a 1-1 draw.

Chile made a flying start to the match as they went ahead after just six minutes. Following a terrible mistake by Shkodran Mustafi, Arturo Vidal played Alexis Sanchez through and the Arsenal man hit a low shot in the bottom corner of the net.

Germany responded immediately through Julian Draxler. The German midfielder hit a shot from outside the penalty area that went slightly over.

On the 15th minute, the Germans had another chance on goal. Lars Stindl received a pass from Matthias Ginter and hit a shot that was neutralised by Johnny Herrera.

Eduardo Vargas nearly doubled the score for Chile on the 19th minute. The Chilean player fired a stunning shot from distance that hit the upright.

Emre Can of Germany tried his luck from outside the penalty area on the 36th minute, but his shot sailed well off target.

The Germans equalised on the 41st minute. In an excellent piece of play, Jonas Hector sent a cross towards Stindl who placed the ball behind Johnny Herrera.

Sanchez hit back for Chile on the brink of half time. The twenty-eight year old sent a powerful drive that was well saved by Herrera.

Three minutes into the second half, Sanchez had another chance on goal. From a free-kick, the star player fired a shot that landed on the roof of the net.

Chile threatened again on the 58th minute. Charles Aranguiz’s cross found Vidal and the latter headed slightly over.

The last chance on goal was created by the Germans on the 72nd minute. Stindl’s shot from inside the penalty area was saved by Herrera.

In the remaining minutes, neither team managed to produce any real threat as both teams applied a conservative approach in their attempts not to lose the match.
