Senglea made a flying start to the match as they went ahead after just nine minutes. Nicola Palmieri made the most out of a mistake by Luke Bonnici and placed the ball inside the net.

In less than a minute, Senglea made it 2-0. Rene Caseres hit a shot from the edge of the penalty area that gave Bonnici no chance.

Lija managed to pull one back on the 21st minute. Abubaker Bello Osagie went past two defenders and fired a stunning shot that ended up inside the net.

Senglea lost a penalty on the 65th minute. Caseres was brought down inside the penalty area and the referee pointed towards the spot. However, from the elven metres mark, Palmieri saw his shot being saved by Bonnici.

Despite losing this opportunity, Senglea scored again four minutes later. Ivan Paz sent a cross that was met by Caseres who headed home.

Lija pulled one back on the 76th minute. Erjon Beu was fouled inside the penalty area and the referee ordered the second penalty of the game. Beu took charge of the penalty kick and finished behind Timmy Aquilina.
