Valletta returned to winning ways with a narrow 1-0 win over Sliema Wanderers.

Valletta scored the winning goal on the 14th minute. Michael Mifsud went on the right flank and sent a cross towards Nikola Asceric whose effort ended up past Glenn Zammit.

Sliema hit back two minutes later. From a free-kick, Ricardo Correa Duarte forced a good save from Henry Bonello.

The Wanderers threatened again on the 21st minute. Jefferson de Assis went on a good run and fired a shot that sailed slightly wide.

On the 59th minute, Santiago Malano of Valletta tried his luck from a free-kick, but his shot went over.

Valletta created another opportunity on the 64th minute. Ibrahim Raed Saleh saw his shot ending up centimetres off target.

Bonello was alert to save the day for Valletta on the 90th minute. The Maltese goalkeeper produced an excellent save to deny Correa Duarte.

Following this result, Valletta are second with ten points, while Sliema share seventh place with Balzan.
