Mark Cutajar is the new Prize Boxing Promotion heavyweight champion

On Friday, 1 February 2013 at the Dolmen Hotel in Bugibba, a boxing tournament was held by Prize Boxing Promotion.

More than 1000 boxing fans were not left disappointed as the night was full of top level boxing by local athletes.

A number of semi-professional bouts were held with four of the fighters fighting in the heavyweight division.

Mark Cutajar who managed to win the Prize Boxing Promotion heavyweight championship took home €1000 and also now has the opportunity to fight as a professional.

Each heavyweight bout consisted of three rounds with each round lasting three minutes.

The format of the fights were a knockout tournament.

In the first fight, Mark Cutajar defeated Josef Hazzouri by unanimous decision.

In the second fight, Michael 'Hurricane' Carter defeated Santo Rossi when the refree stopped the fight 44 seconds into the second round.

Mark Cutajar earned his second victory of the night when he defeated Michael "Hurricane' Carter with another unanimous decision.

In other fights, Clayton Vella defeated Richard Vella by split decision.

Manuel Degiorgio defeated Brian Farrugia by unanimous decision.

Garth Galea was victorious over Warren Azzopardi by unanimous decision.

Chris Schembri defeated Ali when the referee stopped the fight one minute and 15 seconds into the second round.

Mads the 'Mad Man' Abela defeated Joseph Abela by split decision.
