The French international was all set to join the Merseyside club until revelations that Liverpool had pulled out of the £8.5m deal amid fears about some of the results regarding what was expected to be a routine medical examination.

Despite reported interest from Arsenal and Tottenham it was Chelsea who then swooped to snap up the QPR player. But now Remy has hit out at Liverpool over what transpired.

Speaking to French media outlet Téléfoot, the 27-year-old former Marseille forward said, "I did not understand Liverpool's decision. It was not very honest from their side."

Liverpool's medical staff were said to be concerned with a heart condition that Remy was initially diagnosed with in 2010. But the player defiantly said, "I was not scared. I know exactly what I have, I met all the specialists in the world. A lot of players share the same situation as mine and Liverpool know it."

Chelsea on the other hand were unperturbed and manager Jose Mourinho saw Remy's availability as the perfect solution to bolster his strike force, especially given that Fernando Torres departed for AC Milan shortly afterwards.
