The Sun reports that Ferdinand, who is releasing a new autobiography entitled '#2Sides', called the Scot's reign at Old Trafford 'embarrassing' after seeing the club fall out of European competition and streets behind Manchester City under his tutelage.

Ferdinand revealed that Moyes set his team out to stop the opposition before matches, while the club had previously been used to an attacking brand of football under Sir Alex Ferguson. The former England defender also revealed that Moyes stopped a United pre-match meal favourite - chips on the night before a game.

Now at QPR, the 35-year-old returned to United on Sunday, but couldn't stop his new side from suffering a 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Louis van Gaal's new look side. Ferdinand revealed that Moyes lost the dressing room last season.

He wrote: "He tried to impose a vision but never seemed to be completely clear what that vision should be. Unintentionally, he created a negative vibe where, with Fergie, it had always been positive.

"He’d slowly lost us. I didn’t enjoy playing under him. Sometimes our main tactic was the long, high, diagonal cross. It was embarrassing. Moyes’ innovations led to negativity and confusion. It was always how to stop the other side. Moyes set us up not to lose. We’d been accustomed to playing to win."
