Jose Mourinho was furious after Robin van Persie's injury-time strike denied Chelsea all three points against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Chelsea had been leading through Didier Drogba's header but Branislav Ivanovic's foul on Angel di Maria saw the defender sent off for two bookable offences and from the free-kick Van Persie slammed home after Thibaut Courtois had parried Marouane Fellaini's bullet header.

The result kept Chelsea's gap at the top of the Barclays Premier League to four points and Mourinho said afterwards: "We have a little space now for our mistakes... or for referees' mistakes."

Under-pressure Newcastle manager Alan Pardew was rewarded for a stern half-time team talk to turn the match around at Tottenham with the Magpies coming from a goal down to win 2-1.

Emmanuel Adebayor had given Spurs the lead only for half-time substitute Sammy Ameobi to level, with Ayoze Perez heading the winner on his first start for Newcastle.

"There were a few strong words at half-time," Pardew said.

Burnley's struggles continued after the Clarets were on the wrong end of a 3-1 scoreline at home to Everton.

Samuel Eto'o scored twice with Romelu Lukaku also on target after Burnley had equalised through Danny Ings.

Burnley's search for a first win since promotion back to the Premier League will go into a 10th game - a trip to Arsenal next weekend.
