Rainbows back to winning ways

Tarxien Rainbows returned to winning ways through a solitary goal midway through the first half in what was a very important win for the blues.

Naxxar went close to taking the lead in the 26th minute when a shot by Gueye was saved by keeper Mintoff and again through a Vella rebound.

However it was the blues who took the lead against all odds when on the 35th minute ex Mosta midfielder Firaz Aboulezz scored from a difficult angled position to put the rainbows ahead. A few minutes later, a free kick by Gilmar went high.

Early on in the second half it was the Lions who were on the attack and went close to restoring equilibrium in the 47th minute through a Falzon header after a perfect cross by Eminike.

Within three minutes it was again Naxxar going close when from another Gilmar free kick Mintoff made a good save and from the rebound Falzon saw his effort hitting the bar.
