Goal in each half enough for Valletta

Valletta scored a goal in each half to come out comfortable winners against bottom club Zebbug Rangers to reduce the gap to twelve points behind Hibernians, who however have a game in hand.

Zebbug started with Yessous Camilleri, Jacob Borg and Kurt Zammit who all three replaced Melvin Farrugia, Matthew Gauci and Carlo Monti.  Valletta had Shaun Bajada missing through injury.

As expected Valletta held the initiative from early on in the game and went close through Nafti during the early periods of the game.  Nafti went close again before half time as he hit the upright from a corner kick.  Bartolo then saved an effort from Elford-Alliyu.

Valletta took the lead three minutes before the break when off a pass by Barry, Nafti slotted the ball past the Zebbug keeper.

In the second half it was again Valletta who went close to scoring when through an individual run by Elford-Alliyu, with the latters’ effort hitting the upright from.

Fifteen minutes from time Valletta sealed the issue when Elford Alliyu tapped the ball home from close range after a collective good move.
