The FA Cup may have surely lost its glamour and prestige in recent years for the top sides, but for a side like Cambridge to come up against a top team like Manchester United is an opportunity to reignite some of the competitions’ magic and element of surprise.

The chances of an upset are remote at best with the two teams separated by 76 places in English Football, also considering the huge difference in quality, depth and resources.  However surprises do happen in Football as we have witnessed in the past, and optimism amongst the Cambridge fans could prove key to the hosts’ chances of causing an upset.

‘’I hope they come to the game with some belief that Friday can be the one in-one hundred days that we can cause an upset,’’ Boss Richard Money said on the FA website.

‘’I hope they come to the game full of optimism’’.

The two sides have met twice previously, in a two legged League Cup tie in 1991- Cambridge drew the first leg at home before being easily beaten 3-0 at Old Trafford.
