Hibernians maintained their strong position at the top of the table as they cruised to an easy 5-0 win over Zebbug Rangers.

Hibernians were expected to win this match however a demolishing result was definitely not expected particularly after some positive performances from Zebbug.  In the end it turned out to be a comfortable win for the Premier League leaders who only needed nine minutes to take the lead.

Bjorn Kristensen sent a brilliant through ball towards the feet of Jorginho who showed great skill to turn past goalkeeper Manuel Bartolo and palced the ball into an empty net.

In a swift move Hibs doubled their lead on 21 minutes, Jackson Lima was quick to play the ball to Andrew Cohen who burst forward and he quickly set up the sprinting Failla who hit a fierce drive that gave no chance to goalkeeper Emanuel Bartolo.

There was only one team on the pitch with Zebbug Rangers chasing shadows and on 29 minutes the leaders added a third goal.

They were awarded a free-kick and Failla’s curling cross was met by Andrei Agius who sent a strong header into the net beating keeper Bartolo for the third time.

Żebbuġ keeper Bartolo came to his team rescue on 34 minutes when Jorginho’s backheader freed Cohen who advanced unimpeded but he saw his low shot blocked by the towering custodian.

But the Hibs captain was not to be denied six minutes from the break when Jorginho won a free-kick on the edge of the area and Cohen’s curled the ball into the bottom corner of the net.

The woodwork denied Żebbuġ a consolation goal on 70 minutes when Ciantar skilfully chested the ball down inside the area but his volley went hitting against the upright.

Hibs added a fifth goal on 79 minutes. The goal came from a misjudgement by goalkeeper Bartolo who thought the ball was finishing out of play but in nipped Failla who stole possession and quickly served Cohen who headed into an empty net.
