Ħamrun managed to open the score on the half hour mark. Jake Grech’s free kick was judged by the referee to have come off Enzo Ruiz’s hand inside the penalty area and pointed to the spot. From the resulting penalty, Grech converted to put Ħamrun ahead.

Floriana had a good chance to score an equaliser towards the end of the first half after Mario Fontanella found Nicolas Chiesa who fired high from an ideal position.

The greens managed to equalise five minutes into the second half when Steve Pisani passed the ball towards Chiesa who hit a low shot that ended up inside the net.

On the 56th minute, Justin Haber was alert to deny Ħamrun. The experienced goalkeeper stretched out his hands to parry out Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza’s effort.

Floriana controlled possession in the remaining minutes, but Ħamrun kept firm to earn another point.

Nicolas Chiesa was voted as the BOV player of the match.
