St. Andrews registered a solid  3-1 win over Ħamrun Spartans to reduce the gap between the two sides to just two points.

The Spartans made a flying start to the match as they went ahead after just eight minutes. Massimilianpo Giusti delivered the ball towards Jake Grech who finished past Jake Galea.

St. Andrews only took a minute to equalise. From a corner, Ivan Paz sent a cross towards Michael Johnson. The latter jumped high and headed home.

Danilo Doncic’s side went ahead for the first time in the match on the 81st minute when Karlo Kesinovic fired a shot from inside the penalty area that gave Farrugia no chance.

St. Andrews made sure of the three points two minutes later. Paz fired a stunning shot from distance that ended up inside the net.

In the remaining minutes, Ħamrun had Sergio Raphael Dos Anjos and Luis Vergara Rodrigues sent off.
