Balzan went close on the 37th minute. Ryan Fenech sent a cross shot from a corner that nearly stunned the Valletta defence before it got cleared off the line by Claudio Pani.

Valletta responded by going ahead in the beginning of the second half. Michael Mifsud delivered a cross towards Federico Falcone who headed past Ivan Janjusevic.

Balzan managed to draw level on the hour mark. Alfred Effiong sent Bojan Kaljevic through and the latter finished past Dziugas Barktus.

Oliver Spiteri’s side went ahead for the first time in the match on the 67th minute. Fenech delivered a cross inside the penalty area that found Matteo Picciolo. The Italian fired a header that ended up inside the net.

Valletta hit back and managed to equalise fifteen minutes from time. From a free kick, Jhonnattann Benites da Conceicao hit a stunning shot which gave Janjusevic no chance.
