St. Andrews made the perfect start to the match and went ahead after just twenty-six seconds. Ziga Kastrevec won possession inside the Mosta defence and ran towards the penalty area, but Yenz Cini came out and blocked his effort. However, from the rebound, the Slovenian player headed inside the net.

Danilo Doncic’s side kept putting pressure and head a good chance on the 6th minute. The ball was delivered inside the penalty area towards Daniel Brandle who fired wide.

Mosta responded on the 14th minute when Kemar Reid hit a shot from the edge of the penalty area that went high.

Three minutes later, St. Andrews nearly doubled the score. Dale Camilleri sent a through ball towards Kastrevec whose finish ended up slightly wide of the post.

Jake Galea was on the alert to deny Mosta on the 23rd minute. Lucky Oseghale went on the left side of the penalty area and hit a low shot that was well saved by Galea.

Mosta equalised on the half hour mark. Brandle brought down Gabriel Bezak inside the penalty area and the referee pointed towards the spot. From the eleven metres mark, Bezak saw his effort being saved by Galea, but Oseghale finished inside the net from the rebound.

Seven minutes into the second half, Joseph Farrugia of St. Andrews sent a shot from a free kick that was well saved by Cini.

Mosta nearly went ahead on the 61st minute. Bezak hit a strong shot from outside the penalty area that was parried into the post by Galea.

On the 69th minute, Mosta had another good opportunity to go ahead. Bezak sent Kemar Reid through and the latter went inside the penalty area, but his effort was well blocked by Galea.

St. Andrews went close to score a late winner on the 86th minute. From a corner, Farrugia delivered a cross towards the penalty area that was met by Michael Johnson whose header hit the woodwork.
