Sliema created the first opportunity on goal after just two minutes. Jean Paul Farrugia fired a shot that was saved by Philip Schranz. Rebound fell for Wisdom Salomon whose effort went slightly wide.

Tarxien responded on the twelfth minute when Claudio Frances found Da Paixao Alves in a good position, but Glenn Zammit managed to block his shot.

On the 20th minute, Sliema went on a fast counter attack and Farrugia delivered the ball towards Denni Rocha Dos Santos; however, the latter failed to make proper contact with the ball and the chance was lost.

The Wanderers kept piling pressure and had another opportunity on the 30th minute. Gary Muir hit a shot which was partially saved by Schranz and from the rebound Denni finished wide.

Tarxien improved drastically in the second half and went close on the 57th minute. Sergio Fernandez prendes fired a shot that produced a good save from Zammit.

Six minutes later, Zammit could do nothing to deny the Rainbows. Ayrton Azzopardi served Da Paixao Alves and the Brazilian hit a stunning shot that gave the Sliema goalkeeper no chance.

On the 74th minute, Farrugia of Sliema sent a shot that sailed wide of the post.
