Floriana went ahead on the 42nd minute. Amadou Samb went on the right flank and sent a cross towards Ignacio Varela who finished past Jurgen Borg.

The Maroons hit back in the second half and equalised on the 47th minute. Following a cross by Ian Azzopardi, Louis Rene Zome managed to find Ige Abdullahi Adeshina and the latter placed the ball inside the net past Justin Haber.

Gżira only took three minutes to score again. From a free kick, Azzopardi sent a strong shot that gave Haber no chance.

Darren Abdilla’s side kept putting pressure on Floriana and added another goal on the 57th minute. Juan Carlos Corbalan went on a good run down the right flank and hit a strong shot that ended up inside the net.

Zone added another goal for the Maroons on the 69th minute. The Cameroonian footballer sent a shot that hit the post before settling inside the net.

The greens tried to hit back and scored two consolation goals. On the 79th minute, Gżira’s defence failed to completely clear Steve Pisani’s free kick. Ryan Camenzuli took hold of possession and placed the ball inside the net.

Floriana scored their third goal on the 90th minute. Borg brought down Mario Fontanella inside the penalty area and the referee ordered a penalty. From the spot kick, the same player saw his shot being saved by the opposing goalkeeper, but managed to score from the rebound.
