St. Andrews started well and nearly went ahead on the 6th minute. Joseph Farrugia hit a shot which Jurgen Borg parried onto the posts and into a corner.

The Maroons managed to score the equalising goal in the additional time given by the referee prior to half time. Andrew Cohen sent a cross towards Louis Rene Zome whose effort ended up inside the net.

St. Andrews regained the lead on the 50th minute. Clifford Gatt Baldacchino handled the ball inside the penalty area and the referee whistled for a penalty. From the spot kick, Ivan Paz made no mistake.

Gżira restored equilibrium again on the 61st minute through another penalty. Michael Johnson handled the ball inside the penalty area and the referee signalled another penalty. From the eleven metres mark, Cohen finished home to score his second goal wearing Gżira’s shirt.

On the 85th minute, Gżira managed to score the winning goal when Juan Carloas Corbalan hit a strong shot that gave Jake Galea no chance.
