BOV Premier League | Valletta 3 – Sliema Wanderers 1

In the second game at the National Stadium, Valletta earned a 3-1 win over Sliema Wanderers.

Sliema started well and had a good opportunity on the 5th minute. Denni Rocha Dos Santos served Jean Paul Farrugia and the latter fired high.

Valletta responded on the 24th minute. Llyewlyn Cremona sent a cross inside the penalty area that caused a chaos. Maximiliano Velasco and Umeh Uchenna Calistus attempted shots on target that were blocked by the Sliema’s defence.

The citizens increased their efforts in the second half and had a good opportunity on the 50th minute. Cremona sent a shot that that ended up high.

Five minutes later, Valletta were unlucky when Calistus saw his shot hitting the woodwork.

Valletta paid the price for losing these chances as Sliema went ahead on the 63rd minute. Mark Scerri hit a shot from distances that ended up past Dziugas Bartkus.

However, Valletta hit back and equalised immediately. Velasco made the most of Giuseppe Sarao’s mistake and placed the ball inside the net.

Paul Zammit’s side went ahead on the 67th minute. Rowen Muscat delivered the ball towards Velasco who headed home.

Valletta made sure of the three points on the 79th minute. Calistus went on a good run inside the penalty area and finished past Sarao.
