In a quiet match, Hibernians registered a narrow 2-1 win over Sliema Wanderers to go momentarily first.

Hibs made a flying start to the match and went ahead after just six minutes. Jorge Da Silva Pereira served Jurgen Degabriele inside the penalty area and the latter finished past Giuseppe Sarao.

The Paolites created another opportunity on the 29th minute. Bjorn Kristensen fired a shot from distance that ended up off target.

Mark Miller’s side increased the margin of the score on the 34th minute. From a free kick, Gilmar Ribeiro Da Silva sent a cross inside the penalty area towards Kristensen who slotted the ball inside the net.

Sliema responded on the 42nd minute. Following a free kick, Frank Temille saw his shot hitting the side netting.

Hibernians lost a golden opportunity to score again on the 44th minute. Gilmar sent a pass towards the unmarked Degabriele who finished high from an ideal position.

Sliema started the second half looking for a goal and had a good opportunity on the 47th minute. From a free kick, Ricardo Calixto Correa Duarte sent a cross inside the penalty area towards Jonathan Pearson whose header was neutralised by Andrew Hogg.

The Wanderers reduced the margin of the score on the 62nd minute. Clayton Failla pushed Jonathan Pearson inside the penalty area and Glenn Tonna ordered a penalty. From the eleven metres mark, Alex Muscat finished past Hogg.

Hibs created the last chance of the match on the 84th minute. Marcelo Dias went on a good run and hit a low shot that sailed slightly wide of the post.
