Floriana had a great start as they managed to go ahead after just two minutes. From a free kick, Mario Fontanella delivered the ball towards Ignacio Varela whose effort ended up behind Andrew Hogg.

Five minutes later, Floriana doubled their advantage. Nicolas Chiesa hit a shot that was partially saved by Hogg. Rebound fell for Fontanella who placed the ball inside the net.

Hibernians hit back and reduced the margin of the score on the 42nd minute. From a free kick, Clayton Failla saw his shot going inside the net past Matthew Grech.

The Paolites kept on insisting in their attempts to equalise. However, they had to wait till the 82nd minute to level the score. Marcelo Dias sent a cross towards Jackson Lima who finished home.

When everyone thought that the game was going to end in a draw, it was Andrei Agius who scored the winning goal in the additional time. Gilmar Ribeiro Da Silva sent the ball towards the Maltese defender and the latter headed past Grech to the joy of the Hibs supporters.
