Floriana lost another two vital points as they were held in a 1-1 draw by Gżira United.

Floriana went close after just three minutes. From a free kick, Mario Fontanella sent the ball towards Amadou Samb whose header hit the post.

On the 14th minute, Floriana had another chance on goal. Ignacio Varela sent Samb through on goal. However, the Senegalese player was denied by Jurgen Borg.

Samb went close again for Floriana on the 28th minute. The midfielder’s header was cleared off the line by Andre White.

The Maroons responded on the half hour mark. Juan Carlos Corbalan fired a close range shot that was blocked for a corner.

Gżira had another attempt on goal on the brink of half time. Ige Abdullahi Adeshina saw his shot hitting the side netting.

Giovanni Tedesco’s side had a good chance on goal on the 50th minute. Following Steve Pisani’s cross, Nayar forced a good save from Borg.

The Greens went ahead on the 56th minute. From a corner, Steve Pisani sent a cross in the direction of Antonio Monticelli who finished behind Borg.

However, Darren Abdilla’s side equalised four minutes later. Corbalan sent a powerful shot from a free-kick that gave Justin Haber no chance.

The last opportunity of the match was created by Gżira on the 78th minute. Corbalan served Moises Avila Perez and the latter sent a shot that was saved by Haber.
