Valletta created the first opportunity of the match after fifteen minutes. Maxi Velasco received the ball inside the penalty area and hit a shot that was neutralised by David Jensen.

Utrecht responded on the 29th minute. Sander Van De Streek sent a shot that produced a good save from Henry Bonello.

The Maltese side threatened again on the 41st minute. Romeu Romao fired a strong shot that got the best out of Jensen.

On the 49th minute, Sean Klaiber’s shot found Bonello on the alert once more.

Utrech went close again on the 80th minute. Zakaria Labyad fired a shot from a free-kick that was blocked by Valletta’s goalkeeper.

Valletta will now be hoping for a good result in Holland as their hopes of making it to the third round are still realistic.
