Newly promoted Senglea Athletic registered a surprising 1-0 win over Birkirkara.

Senglea went close on the 12th minute. Ivan Paz sent a cross shot that ended up slightly off target.

On the 44th minute, Matthew Guillaumier of Birkirkara fired a shot that was neutralised by Timmy Aquilina.

Birkirkara went close again on the 50th minute. Jake Grech served Alex Nillson in a promising position, but the Swedish striker lost his balance and finished wide.

The stripes threatened again on the 65th minute. Grech hit a low shot that sailed slightly wide.

Five minutes from time, Senglea scored the all-important goal. Paz delivered the ball towards Nicolas Gonzalo Virano and the latter finished behind Philip Schranz.
