Balzan registered another disappointing result as they were held by Ħamrun Spartans  in a 0-0 draw.

Balzan went close after seven minutes. Alex Da Paixao Alves sent a shot that went over.

The Spartans responded on the 13th minute. Marino Clavero hit a low shot that ended up centimetres off target.

Five minutes later, Da Paixao Alves fired another shot which failed to hit the target.

Ħamrun threatened again on the 20th minute. Valerio Gomes Dos Santos saw his shot touching the woodwork and going out.

Balzan lost a golden opportunity one minute from half time. Bojan Kaljevic was brought down inside the penalty area and the referee ordered a penalty. From the eleven metres mark, Carlos Eduardo De Fiori finished over.

Moments later, Paul Fenech’s shot was parried by Steve Sultana.

On the 57th minute, Balzan ended up in ten men as Paul Fenech was sent off after being shown the second yellow card.

Five minutes later, Balzan went down to nine men as Kaljevic saw red as well.

The Spartans tried to take advantage of the situation, but Balzan defended well.

One minute into the additional time, Sultana had to be alert to save Effiong’s close range shot.
