Mosta made a flying start to the match as they went ahead after ten minutes. Thomas Veronese sent a cross that took a deflection off Sem Kamana Ogolong and ended up inside the net for an own goal.

The Maroons lost a golden opportunity on the 31st minute. Jonas Rodrigues Ekani brought Ndubisi Emanuel Okoye inside the penalty area and the referee signalled towards the spot. However, Andrew Cohen saw his shot from the eleven metres mark being saved by Andreas Vella.

Despite losing this opportunity, Gżira still managed to equalise on the 36th minute. Moises Avila Perez hit a powerful drive that gave Vella no chance.

Darren Abdilla’s side forged ahead on the 58th minute. Rodriguez Ekani fouled Cohen inside the penalty area and the referee awarded the second penalty in favour of Gżira. Samba Tounkara took charge of the spot kick and converted.

Despite this, Mosta equalised in the additional time. Tyrone Farrugia received a pass from Leonardo Henrique and placed the ball inside the net.
