FA Trophy provides no surprising results

The first set of matches provided no shocks as Lija, Pieta`, Mosta and San Ġwann are through to the next round.

Lija Athletic 4 – Kalkara 0

Lija Athletic found no difficulty against Kalkara as they registered a 4-0 win over the second division side. Rafael Kooh Sohna scored a hat-trick, while Abubaker Bello Osagie added another.

Pieta` Hotspurs 3 – Siġġiewi 2

Pieta needed extra time to overcome Siġġiewi. Juan Manuel Artiaga sent Pieta` ahead after just three minutes. However, Siġġiewi equalised through Eman Ciappara, and the game went into extra time. Gabriel Mensah regained Pieta’s lead on the 100th minute, but Trayo Grozev equalised again for Siġġiewi. Jan Busuttil scored the winning goal for Pieta`.

Mosta 2- Mqabba 1

Mosta also had to work hard to secure a 2-1 win over Mqabba. Edison Bilbao Zarate sent Johann Scicluna’s side ahead. Mqabba hit back through Michael Borg whose free-kick gave Andreas Vella no chance. However, Tyrone Farrugia scored the winning goal for Mosta.

San Ġwann 3 – Melita 0

San Ġwann are also through to the next round following a comfortable 3-0 win over Melita. Daniel Chaves scored a double, while Jan Tanti added another.
