Tarxien Rainbows breathed a sigh of relief after securing a 3-2 win over relegation candidates St Andrews.

St Andrews went ahead on the 9th minute. Following a cross by Aidan Friggieri, Andrew Agius handled the ball inside the penalty area and the referee ordered a penalty. Joseph Farrugia took charge of the spot kick and made no mistake.

Tarxien equalised on the 25th minute. Matar Dieye went down the right flank before passing the ball towards Ricardinho Faria Da Silva who finished inside the net despite being closed down.

The Rainbows went ahead nine minutes later. Travis Blagrove brought down Dieye inside the penalty area and the referee pointed towards the spot. In addition, the St Andrews player was also sent off after being shown his second yellow card. From the eleven metres mark, Dieye finished past Matthew Calleja Cremona.

Despite playing with ten men, St Andrews managed to equalise on the 71st minute when substitute David Reid hit a powerful shot from close range that gave Antonio Chetcuti no chance.

However, Tarxien scored the winning goal on the 77th minute. Andre` Scicluna served Faria Da Silva and the latter saw his effort going behind Calleja Cremona.
