Gianluca Dingli looks forward to another Super ROK success at Pista Sole e Luna

Young karting driver Gianluca Dingli is looking forward to another successful weekend in the final round of the ACI-CSAI Regional Karting Championship at the Pista Sole e Luna in Vittoria, Sicily, with his Tony Kart in the Super ROK 125 class.

Gianluca has already won an earlier round this season at the same karting circuit on 11th May, when he finished ahead of Nicola Logiudice.

The Kartodromo Sole Luna, as it is also known, is 1.39 km long and has a width of 10 metres.  It is claimed to be one of the most beautiful karting circuits in Sicily.  It has a whole series of bends and corners, and drivers cannot afford to make any errors.

Gianluca is currently leading the Regional Karting Championship in his class for the South Zone, that is Sicily, promoted by the Italian Automobile Club (ACI) and the Italian Automobile Sport Commission (CSAI), with 47.5 points against Nicola’s 32.5 points.

In addition to the race in Vittoria, Gianluca has also won his class in the rounds at the Triscina International Circuit in Trapani in February and June, at the Pista del Sole in Syracuse in March, and at the Concordia International Circuit in Favara, Agrigento, in July.

In April, at Concordia, Gianluca collected the same number of championship points for the Super ROK Cup as Nicola. Gianluca is in fact competing in two simultaneous championships – the ACI-CSAI regional one, and the Vortex-ROK Cup, in his category, with two different championship point systems.

Although he is still very young, over the last couple of years Gianluca has gained a lot of experience in foreign karting events, and he features regularly in the Vortex ROK press releases – providing some publicity for Malta. These press releases, or similar ones, are then also published by other foreign media such as Karting Sicilia VROOM, and Sicilia Motori.

Gianluca has more plans for this year. He has already participated at other

Italian circuits away from Sicily, such as Lonato in Brescia, and he is looking forward to participate in the international race meeting in Siena, the ROK Cup Italia 2014.

It is hoped that Gianluca will not experience any technical or racing incidents so that he may earn full championship points again this weekend.
