Autocross and Motocross ASMK Races continue next Sunday

On Sunday 2 November 2014 'Assocjazzjoni Sport u Karozzi' will be organizing other Motorsport activities at its Ta' Qali Sports Complex.

These races are part of the ASMK Pasta POIATTI National Championships 2014/15. The Autocross will be holding the second race of the Championship and will be driving in the normal clockwise direction.

During this program a new Class for Standard Autocross cars will be launched mainly with new drivers on new formula cars. These are a stepping stone into the more competitive Autocross Modified Autocross Class.

Sunday's program will also include the first race of the Motocross Championship. The day's Program begins at 10: 00am when Mass is said during one event in November of each year and spectators are invited to attend. The races start at 11.00am.

During this week the Association regained the services of a Technical expert in building Motocross tracks. Mr. Angelo Cinquemani who re-built the Motocross track last January of this year is in Malta to do maintenance work on the Motocross track again. He also is to see the needs of the newer and experienced Motocross riders. His work proved fruitful mainly among the ASMK Motocross competitors who are competing in the FMI Regional MX Championship in Sicily. The Maltese riders are winning high places in the FMI competitions following practice sessions on our tracks in Malta following the modifications made by Cinquemani. All this is made possible by the
support from Kunsill Malti ghall Isport, the Maltese Olympic Committee, Philip Agius & Sons and Carmel Vella & Sons. These newer track modifications attract the present riders as well as future ones who are expected to begin this sport and compete abroad in different classes.

Meanwhile before starting the activity on Sunday 2nd November, ASMK will be organizing prayers and Holy Mass on site at the Ta Qali race tracks. This event has now entered the sporting calendar of Association when once a year in the month of November, Holy Mass is said by all present for all deceased ex-members especially for former Executive Committee member and ex-Autocross competitor Gian Patist Azzopardi who passed away in a traffic accident at Mtarfa earlier last week. On the day ASMK will also mark this day as a day of mourning when all flags will fly at half-mast at the race circuits. ASMK sends condolences to Azzopardi family.

The Association also announced two more important dates. The 2nd Enduro Race in the National Championship will be held on Sunday 9 November 2014. This second Enduro meeting will be held at ASMK Ta' Qali sport complex. This event will be ideal for beginners and novices in the sport and also for the experts in Enduro racing.

The 2nd Moto Trials event will be held on the 23rd November 2014 for both Class A and Class B riders. This non-speed event on powerful special light motorcycles will also be held at the tal-Ballut Quarry in Naxxar. The event starts at 9.30am and welcomes non-ASMK members too.
