Team Chaudron one win away from another World Title

Abu Dhabi the capital city of the United Arab Emirates, the luxurious haven for some of the world’s biggest oil-producing companies, tasteful luxurious hotels and exclusive sporting facilities will host the third and final round of the 2014 UIM ClassOne World Powerboat Championship widely regarded as the pinnacle of international offshore powerboat racing.

Team Chaudron - on the 13-metre Chaudron Canopy 41 model - challenges for another World title in the U.A.E. Grand Prix.

The Championship already presented two exciting moments with the staging of the Mediterranean Grand Prix in Ibiza, Spain, and the Grand Prix of Italy in Terracina, Italy. Here Malta’s pride Aaron Ciantar and his Team Chaudron conquered the waves - a first in Ibiza and a second in Terracina - to clinch the Class One V1 European Championship. Class One V1 is made up of prototype racing craft that, with a minimum length of 36ft and maximum of 43ft, using inboard motors only, can reach speeds in excess of over 100mph.

Now between the 3rd and 5th December the 15 international competing teams - 7 in Class 1 and 8 in V1 Class - move to the dazzling Abu Dhabi for the U.A.E. Grand Prix bound to give one and all great aspirations and amazing satisfaction undoubtedly a grand finale to a spectacular Championship.

With Aaron Ciantar in his traditional driver’s role and Frenchman Dominique Martini featuring as throttle-man Team Chaudron looks forward with determination aware that a victory in one of the two scheduled Abu Dhabi meetings will keep them leaders in their Class and bestow on them the sensational Class One V1 World Championship title.

The revised World Championship events format ‘ClassOne’ will see the Class 1 Catamarans and V1 Monohulls running together on a simple mirror-image circuit with separate sets of turn-buoys, Class 1 turning on the inside marks, V1 the outside.

At the U.A.E. Grand Prix the line-ups will be: Class 1 - Victory (UAE), Zabo Racing (Norway), New Star Racing (Austria), Fendi Racing LFF10 (Italy), Fendi Racing LFF8-Silverline (Italy), Team Abu Dhabi (II) (UAE), and Team Abu Dhabi (I) (UAE); V1 Class - Team Bernico-New Star (Belgium), Team Aquasport (Belgium), Bullet Offshore (England), Team Chaudron (Malta), Tommy Racing (Italy), Searex Racing (Germany), Team RG87 (Italy) and Team Bernico-New Star (II) (Belgium).

Should Team Chaudron register a win at the U.A.E. Grand Prix it will mean the fourth world title for Aaron Ciantar as a crew member and the sixth for Chaudron as boat builders. The 2014 Worlds are organised by H2O Racing under the auspices of the Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM).
