Carmel ‘Chiefy’ Cilia wins Honorary Motorsport Award

Carmel Cilia, known affectionately as ‘Chiefy’, was awarded with the Audi and Malta Motorsport Federation Honorary Award.

Carmel Cilia, known affectionately as ‘Chiefy’, was awarded with the Audi and Malta Motorsport Federation Honorary Award during a motorsports awards ceremony on Friday.

Former Formula One driver and five times Le Mans champion Emanuele Pirro was the guest of honour.

“Cilia’s life commitment to the progression of motorsports has been outstanding,” MMF President Tonio Cini said. “He is a local motorsport icon who has competed and contributed within the majority of the local clubs, and his commitment was genuinely down to a love of the sport.”

Marco Ferrari, General Director of ACI Sport Italia, was also presented with a special award for “the outstanding support and friendly collaboration there is between the two national federations”.

Last year, ACI Sport Italia allowed Maltese Kart racing drivers to compete in their championships.
