The karatekas were examined on all the technical and practical aspects of Karate. These are Kihon (basics), Kata and Kumite (sparring). The new Black Belts have been training at the M.K.F for a considerable number of years.

In a brief address, the Technical Board told the successful candidates that they should be very proud of their achievement, which truly marks a milestone in their karate career. They also encouraged them to further their knowledge of Karate on a practical and theoretical basis.

The M.K.F, the only karate organisation in Malta directly affiliated to the World Karate Federation has six clubs spread around the island, with another one to be opened in San Gwann in January 2012. It is also affiliated to the Maltese Olympic Committee and the Malta Sports Council.
