The 11th edition of Summer on the Move will come to a close this week after a record-breaking season that saw over 3,500 people participate.

“We are pleased to see that attendance has reached a new record,” Parliamentary Secretary for Sports Chris Agius said. “It encourages us to keep on planning similar sports activities.”

The Summer on the Move programme is subsidised directly by the Malta Sports Council and offers a choice of 29 different sports activities, the most popular of which are football, basketball, swimming, and gymnastics. For the first time, a course in karting was also offered this year. 200 specialised coaches were employed for this programme.

“While this particular programme is coming to an end, a new programme will be offered in winter,” Agius said. “This winter programme will also be offered to adults.”
