The annual Eurosport Fleur-de-Lys Road Races - 13 December 2015

The final commitments for the 2015 Racing Calendar of the Birkirkara St. Joseph Sports Club will take place on Sunday 13 December when the Club will be organizing the annual Eurosport Fleur-de-Lys Road Races.

Organised by Birkirkara St. Joseph Sports Club in collaboration with the Birkirkara Local Council and the Kumitat Amministrattiv Fleur-de-Lys the race will be held under the auspices of the Malta Amateur Athletic Association. The route measurements and topology are in terms of the relevant AIMS and IAAF regulations.
 
Athletes can choose to take part in a 10 or 5 kilometre run or a 5 kilometre walk. All races, which will follow the same route as in previous years will kick off at 8:30 a.m. in front of Eurosport outlet in Psaila Street, Fleur-de-Lys.
 
This year the Club has decided to up the race entry frees by €3, which will be donated to the Malta Community Chest Fund the Solidarjeta’ bl-Isports Campaign. The funds raised will then be presented to Her Excellency The President of the Republic of Malta as the head of the Malta Community Chest Fund.
 
In both the 10K and the 5K races the first placed male and female athletes will be presented with a €75.00 voucher by Eurosport, whilst trophies will be presented to the first three males and first three females in both races, and to the first athletes in the respective age group categories.
 
Regular applications will close on Saturday, 5th December 2015.  These can either be sent by post to Birkirkara St. Joseph Sports Club, 105, Ganu Street, Birkirkara or handed in at Eurosport on Saturday, 5th December 2015 between 9:00 a.m. and Noon.  Race numbers are also to be collected from Eurosport on Saturday, 5th December at the stipulated times.  Late entry forms will be accepted up to one hour before the start of the race at an extra cost of €5.00 which will go to the Community Chest Fund.
 
The presentation ceremony will be held at approximately 11:00 a.m.  Athletes winning an award and who will not be present for this ceremony, will forfeit their award.  A medal will be presented to all the athletes finishing the races.
 
Moreover the Club will be organising free transport, from and to Cirkewwa on race day for Gozitan athletes. Departure from Cirkewwa will be at 6:45 a.m. whilst departure from Fleur-de-Lys will take place immediately after the presentation ceremony.
