Snooker: Alex Borg qualifies for the final phase of the China Open

Maltese professional player Alex Borg qualified for the final phase of the China open after earning a 5-1 win against Jack Lisowski of England.

This match took place at the Guild Hall in Preston, England. Lisowski won the first frame with a break of 56 points, but Borg was in a good from and won the next five consecutive frames in which he registered the following breaks: 75, 69, 63, 51, 51, u 47.

The frame scores (Borg first) were these: 33-88(56), 85(75)-13, 120(51,69)-0, 60(47)-7, 71(51)-33, 71(63)-30.

The final phase will now continue at Beijing in China between the 27th of March and the 2nd of April. In this phase, Borg will be up against Ricky Walden of England who sits 17th in the world rankings. Borg and Walden already played against each a month ago during the Scottish Open. In that match, the English player won 4-3.

The next commitment for Borg is the Welsh Open which is going to be played in Cardiff between the 13th and the 18th of February.
