This result is due to the commitment, hard work and consistency shown by the Maltese squad under the guidance of National Coach Damian Neill.

Speaking of the recent performance in Israel, Neill commented that although the Maltese squad won the game, their performance was slightly disappointing and the boys’ performance was not as expected.  Switzerland won’t be an easy game, especially after their recent game against Croatia where the former won comfortably 40-20.  The National Squad will be announced on Friday evening, following the last two training sessions scheduled for Thursday and Friday morning.

MRFU President Brian Dalton also commented about the national squad’s recent performance and also noted that Israel has very strong support by their government, which includes excellent facilities as well as financial backing. Dalton continued that the MRFU is pleased with the good relations that the Union has with the Maltese government and hopes that both parties work closely together to obtain better facilities for the team.

Don Hewer, Secretary General, concluded the meeting by announcing a number of new appointments within the MRFU which were effected to further strengthen the core functions of the Union. Furthermore he urged the general public to come and support the Maltese squad as this is crucial to further strengthen the morale of the team. Finally Hewer thanked the Press for supporting and promoting what is becoming a fast winning brand.

The Maltese squad will be facing Switzerland on Saturday at the Hibernians Ground in Corradino. Doors open at 12:30 and game will kick off at 14:00hrs. Tickets can be purchased online on www.ticketline.com.mt or at the door.
