The fleet list boasts a list of regulars as well as some newcomers.  Jamie Sammut, skipper of Unica and Overall Winner in the race up to Marzamemi last year is expected to take part and vying to retain the title.  Others such as the crews of Elusive, Xpresso, Janissah, Maltese Falcon are some of the few that have signed up once again.

The Citadel Marzamemi Weekend Regatta will start off on Friday, 28th April in the morning, when the fleet leaves Marsamxett Harbour on a race up to the picturesque Marzamemi harbour.  Depending on weather conditions the fleet will be expected to start arriving in Marzamemi later on in the afternoon.

“With many boats just coming off the hard after winter servicing, the Citadel Marzamemi Weekend Regatta always attracts a sizeable fleet, with all crews looking forward to some very hard fought racing and good fun ashore”, remarked Godwin Zammit, Commodore, Royal Malta Yacht Club.

After all the excitement and adrenalin experienced in the race up, Saturday will see crews congregating for a long relaxing afternoon exchanging experiences and bringing the old piazza to life with their friendly banter. Further on into the evening at the Yacht Club Marzamemi, all crews and friends will come together for a good meal and more socialising.

Due to the 1st May public holiday falling on a Monday, the Club decided to have the passage race down on Monday morning thus leaving Sunday to be a more of a relaxed affair as crews start carrying out last minute preparations on their boats in time for the race down.

Once again the race is being supported by Citadel Insurance plc, who are long standing supporters of the Club’s initiatives.
