Roberto Rosetti and Jorge Larrionda sent home after errors

Roberto Rosetti’s World Cup is over, as the referee was cut from the quarter-final roster after his error in Argentina-Mexico.

Rosetti was among the candidates for the Final going into South Africa, but his tournament has come to an abrupt end.

He and his linesmen were at fault when Argentina’s first goal in a 3-1 win over Mexico was allowed despite Carlos Tevez being clearly in an offside position.

FIFA have also cut Uruguayan referee Jorge Larrionda, who failed to spot Frank Lampard’s shot had bounced over the line in England’s 4-1 defeat to Germany.

The remaining European officials in the World Cup are Webb (England), Benquerenca (Portugal), De Bleeckere (Belgium), Kassai (Hungary), Stark (Germany) and Mallenco (Spain).
