GGPoker raises money for charities to mark International Women’s Day

GGPoker, the leading online poker site, has raised funds for women’s charities as part of an International Women’s Day marketing campaign

One of the most renowned poker sites, GGPoker agreed to donate $10,000 as well as part of the registration fees from players who entered the special International Women’s Day Charity Event online on March 8.

The one-off $10,000 prize pool tournament took place at 20:00 UTC on March 8 with buy-in set at $10 per entry.

Significantly, GGPoker paid out $1 from each player’s buy-in and added to the $10,000 donated by the company themselves.

To raise additional money for the chosen charities, bounties were also placed on special guest poker placed with players knocking them out receiving $100 in prize money.

The special guests who took part included ElkY, Daiva Byrne, Egption, KakiTee, Kevin Martin, JNandez87, Easterdamnz, KnightUK and ALLinPav, all renowned regulars at GGPoker.

“The GGPoker community has a history of donating funds to worthy charities, so it’s great that they’ll get the opportunity once more this International Women’s Day,” said Daiva Byrne, GGPoker Outreach & Community Advocate.

“Charity tournaments are a wonderful way of raising money; we get the opportunity to play the game we love while supporting something worthwhile.”

Players started the tournament with 10,000 in chips and blinds increasing every eight minutes.

The money raised will now be donated in full to international women’s charities and benefit worthy causes.

GGPoker has also teamed up with poker's foremost female-focused player community to help grow the FLIP community in a bid to attract for females to the poker tables. The project is headed up by Byrne, one of the most accomplished female poker players.
