Last March, Festivals Malta put Maltese music back on the map with the return of Festival Kanzunetta Maltija, with its new production, Mużika Mużika.

The festival went on to rack up an impressive number of viewers across its three shows, 320K televiewers to be exact, planting the seed for a newfound celebration of Maltese music.

The festival proved to be more than just a platform for artists to showcase their work, it created a healthy networking environment for artists, especially upcoming ones.

The festival was also a nurturing space for new beginnings as it gave birth to several collaborations. Mużika Mużika Chairman, Ray Bugeja stated that “the positive reception of the festival proves the love we have for Maltese music, and the importance of such a festival to keep happening. We have an abundance of talent here in Malta, and our aim is to bring these artists to the spotlight, all while celebrating our language”

Festivals Malta are currently receiving submissions for the second edition of Mużika Mużika, and local artists have welcomed this with a great deal of interest. This positive response comes to no surprise, as Mużika Mużika has not only found its place in the Maltese cultural calendar but comes with an exciting cash prize of €20,000 for the winning song.

Those interested are encouraged to apply right away as online submissions close this Friday 15th October. Submissions can also be done in person at the Festivals Malta’s offices in Floriana between the 13th and 15th of October. More information on www.muzikamuzika.mt
