Qawra Palace Hotel to reopen in April with €40 million makeover

After a €40 million investment, this new, top-notch facility will re-establish its reputation as a local hotel industry leader for many more years

The historic Qawra Palace Hotel, started welcoming its first guests in March 1985, and is now set to reopen on April 15, 2023 after undergoing its first comprehensive makeover. After a €40 million investment, this new, top-notch facility will re-establish its reputation as a local hotel industry leader for many more years.

Mr. Edward Vella, managing director of the Qawra Palace Hotel, describes how his late brother Charles had teamed up with his father Angelo who together with himself had bought the property in 1978, when Ta' Fra Ben was the end of the Qawra Coast Road and much of the area was still farmland and with the exception of the occasional soft furnishings make over, an upgraded pool, and the construction of an extremely popular wedding hall, the hotel has stayed mostly untouched for the past 37 years.

Before the COVID-19 epidemic, plans for a renovation were already underway, but these were initially intended to be phased over a number of years, according to Vella. "When operations ceased during lockdown, we had the chance to accelerate the entire procedure. In order to accelerate this major overhaul of the entire property, we therefore made the decision to raise the stakes and go for funding.

The Qawra Palace Hotel will offer visitors an all-inclusive experience when it reopens as a full-fledged resort, taking care of all of guest needs to the point where a visitor can conveniently stay on the property for the entirety of the stay. The luxurious spa amenities, which also include an indoor pool, jacuzzi, sauna, and beauty salon, are available to guests in the wellness centre’s generously sized 1,000 square-meter space.

In an exciting move for visitors who like shows, the hotel will contract foreign entities who will perform on-site in a specially created auditorium equipped with cutting-edge digital technology and the latest sound and lighting effects.

Mr Vella concluded “The hotel has always been a favourite with the British market, but it is now prepared to diversify its prospects in anticipation of the anticipated rise in interest in Malta in 2023, as forecasted by foreign tour operators”.

The Qawra Palace Hotel will welcome guests as from April 15, 2023, and copies of a prospectus relating to an offer of up to €25,000,000 5.25% Secured Bonds due 2033 by Qawra Palace plc may be obtained free of charge during office hours from the office of Calamatta Cuschieri Investment Services Limited at Ewropa Business Centre, Triq Dun Karm, Birkirkara BKR 9034 Malta or may be downloaded by visiting the websites of the Issuer on www.qawrapalaceplc.com or of the Sponsor on www.cc.com.mt.
