Parents and caregivers of people with disabilities will take centre stage in October during two events designed to highlight their often-unseen struggles and resilience.

Organisers said the initiative, themed “Making the Unseen, Seen”, aims to raise awareness about the vital yet frequently overlooked role of caregivers, while fostering dialogue and support within the community.

The first event, a film screening titled The Unseen: Parents & Caregivers, will be held on Friday, 3 October 2025 at Dar Ħanin Samaritan, Santa Venera. The documentary captures the challenges and strength that define the journeys of parents and carers, offering audiences a rare glimpse into their hidden realities. Carers from Idea Care will be on site to provide a safe and supportive environment for attendees.

The following day, Saturday, 4 October, the conversation will continue with The Unseen Conference at The Notch, Urban Valley Resort, San Ġwann. The conference will bring together parents, professionals, policymakers, and community leaders to discuss the issues facing caregivers and explore ways to strengthen inclusion and support systems.

Both events are free of charge and open to the public. They are being organised through the Small Initiatives Support Scheme (SIS), managed by the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector and supported by the Ministry for Inclusion and the Voluntary Sector.

Organisers encouraged the public to take part, stressing that the initiative is not only about raising awareness but also about showing solidarity with families whose realities often remain unseen.
