Meridianbet, a gaming empire evolving into a philanthropic organisation for human welfare

In these trying times, Meridianbet has stepped up to aid numerous NGOs and other organisations

When one thinks about the company Meridianbet, the idea of a top-tier betting service comes to mind. While this is statistically correct, their humanitarian actions throughout the past few years cannot be denied nor undermined.

Particularly during these trying times due to the pandemic, the company has stepped up to aid numerous NGOs and other organisations.

Back in 2020, Meridianbet donated to Dar Bjorn Malta, member of the ALS Malta foundation, to ameliorate the quality of life for people with neurological conditions such as ALS and MS. Providing support to the project Newer & Bigger DAR Bjorn was one of many from their duties of assisting local causes.

The Inspire Foundation also found a helping hand in Meridianbet. Making donations to a local charity that works with individuals who suffer from neurological impairments, learning difficulties and other disabilities such as autism, not only assisted the patient’s ailments, but also provided support to their families. Supplying the charitable organisation with a much-needed technical and logistical equipment has aided families and patients greatly.

The betting company also made waves when they decided to address the COVID-19 issue first hand by donating a generous amount of €2,000 to what is called the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund. This fund is supported by the World Health Organisation (WHO), in collaboration with the UN Foundation and a global network of fiduciary partners, to support the WHO in containing the COVID-19 pandemic.

With over 42,500,000 coronavirus cases, as well as 507,000 deaths, India has been drastically hit by the Coronavirus wave, particularly last year. For these precarious reasons, Meridianbet also decided to donate the sum of €2,000 to UNICEF in order to assist the country in combatting against the virus. This sum and others from organisations who have pooled in to help, have made it possible for UNICEF to send emergency equipment, diagnostic tests and critical lifesaving supplies to India.

Meridianbet also joined forces with iSoftbet to raise money for the Movember campaign, by hosting a 5km run on Riviera Bay in partnership with their brand ambassador and high-intensity interval trainer Steve Sammut Nurminen from movewithsteve. They sought to raise a €10,000 donation and further extended this with an additional contribution to Dar Bjorn. These two powerhouses joining together sheds light to the importance of bringing awareness to pivotal campaigns and working in unison to improve the quality of life of those who are in need.

There is no higher business priority than helping local communities when it matters most. Financial, logistical, and technical support is also being provided to residents in remote areas, food banks, day-care centres, and hospitals in countries such as Cyprus and the Balkan regions.

As a company that thrives on assisting charity organisations and funding commendable local communities, Meridianbet has made it their corporate policy to keep on providing financial aids in the near future through organised events and also sporadic funding. Furthermore, Meridianbet also calls upon other Maltese business stakeholders to support and fund charitable organisations and help raise awareness on the island.
