Ahead of the second annual National LGBTI Community Awards, Allied Rainbow Communities (ARC) has revealed the nominees for 2015.

Each nominee is being rewarded for being a positive role model within the LGBTI community in Malta over the past 12 months, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

There are two nominees for each of the six awards, namely:

  • Entertainer – Ira Losco and Ray Calleja
  • Community Event – 2015 Pride March and Bordello
  • Business – AXM Malta and the Government’s Principal Permanent Secretary Mario Cutajar
  • Media – Peppi Azzopardi and Alison Bezzina
  • Politician – Helena Dalli and Dr Arnold Casola
  • NGO – Gender Liberation and MGRM.

The results will be announced live at a lavish award dinner on 7 November, at the Corinthia Palace Hotel & Spa in Attard. The evening will start with a reception and photo call, followed by a stunning six-course menu and wine pairing that has been designed especially by the hotel’s executive chef Stefan Hogan. The evening will culminate in an open-bar after party at the Caprice Lounge.

“Last year’s event was a glittering affair for the inaugural National LGBTI Community Awards and we have spent the last year working with other local NGOs to raise awareness of LGBTI issues that need to be addressed in our community,” says ARC’s president Norman Shaw.

“Now we look forward to celebrating all of the people who have made a tangible difference to the community in the past 12 months, and who will continue to do so in the years to come.”
