Grammy-winning singer Sam Smith has confirmed that he will be singing the theme tune for the upcoming James Bond movie Spectre.

The song which will be titled "Writing’s On The Wall", is set for release on 25th September, while the movie, which stars Daniel Craig as the titular Bond is slated for release a month later in the UK, on 26th October.

Sony Pictures Entertainment made the official announcement earlier today according to Variety.

Smith, known for various singles including "Like I Can"  and “I’m not the Only One”, posted a black and white photo of himself wearing a ring with a mysterious octopus engraved onto it on his Twitter and Instagram accounts yesterday. The octopus is the logo for the sinister Special Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion and it is an emblem which appears on rings worn by many SPECTRE agents in the Ian Fleming novels that inspire the movies.
