Seashells Resort at Suncrest re-opens after €7 million refurbishment project

452 room hotel to operate all year round

Seashells Resort at Suncrest, announced the finalisation of a €7 million intensive refurbishment project.  Mr. Angelo Xuereb, AX Holdings Chairman also announced that the hotel will now remain open all year round.

The announcement was made during a press conference during which Minister for Tourism Hon Edward Zammit Lewis, along with members of the press, was given a show around at the hotel.

Mr. Xuereb said that the works were carried out by just over 350 workers in 5 months, and included the complete stripping and re-fitting of all the 452 rooms within the hotel along with new electrical circuits and tiling.  The resort was also fitted with 8 new high speed lifts, eco-friendly systems, new room management systems, a new plant room and new air-conditioning system.

“This complements the €550,000 investment done last year whereby Seashells Resort at Suncrest now has a completely new main kitchen, with state of the art equipment as well as a refurbished main restaurant - the Coral Cove.

The investment was aimed towards providing our clients with the best possible experience while enjoying a holiday in Malta.  We invested in high quality materials while strengthening services in general. This also provides an upgraded workplace for the over 250 personnel working in this resort.

"We also managed to create a destination, with it’s own characteristics such as a new concept gastropub, the Cheeky Monkey Gastropub.  This could only be achieved thanks to the hard work of hundreds of employees who use their skills for the benefit of our esteemed clients” concluded Mr. Xuereb.

Mr. Joseph Vella, General Manager of the Seashells Resort at Suncrest said that it’s a pleasure for all the team to watch tourists avail themselves of the newly refurbished facilities. “A satisfied tourist will recommend Malta to his family and friends.  All of us need to understand that it is in our interest, as Maltese citizens, to provide the best service we can deliver to those who decided on   spending their money on our islands” said Mr. Vella.

Tourism Minister, Hon Zammit Lewis said that the investment in the hotel is a clear sign of commitment by AX Holdings.

“The fact that the hotel will remain open throughout the year is also very good news. Research shows that there are thousands who are looking at a winter holiday in Malta.  In fact such tourists are on the increase, for example this amounted to 60,000 tourists last December alone” said Minister Zammit Lewis while praising the high level refurbishment project.
